Nintendo NX could still be a hybrid console as analysts say that the MH handheld console was simply a prediction unlike the PlayStation NEO 4K and the Xbox Two.

New reports have initially claimed that the Nintendo NX would just be a home console as a handheld device dubbed as MH was said to be in development. The information comes from a Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley investor note.

In the said note, it was said that the Japanese video game company could be developing a separate handheld console that would be the successor of their Nintendo 3DS. Analysts were quick to point out that it was nothing but a prediction and that it did not make sense considering that there were no other companies planning to launch such portable devices.

The Nintendo NX would then still be the hybrid console that everyone is expecting in 2017. It would go up against the Xbox Two from Microsoft and the PlayStation NEO 4K which is expected to launch on September.

AMD's new Polaris GPU will be used for the console. There are even reports claiming that the new 14 nm process could have led to Sony's decision to develop the PlayStation 4.5.

Nintendo NX is also expected to use cartridges instead of the current discs today, NDTV has learned. The company might want to go back to its roots where cartridges were the norm.

Even if it will not use discs, the modified version of the AMD Polaris GPU for the console would still be able to crank out more power compared to the PlayStation NEO 4K or the Xbox Two. Earlier reports have claimed that it would have more power through the use of supplemental computing devices.

Dr. Serkan Toto has said that the Morgan Stanley report was just a prediction and that the MH name does not confirm a portable console, Express.co.uk reported. He adds that he already reads "tons" of "forward-looking analysis" that is similar to the controversial investor note.

With the Nintendo NX hybrid console speculation still plausible, fans are expecting a lot from Nintendo's next-gen device. It could be the company's first console that could beat competitors such as the Xbox Two or the PlayStation NEO.

Nintendo itself has not confirmed any of the rumors yet. The company could be busy with the new Pokémon GO augmented reality mobile game that they are developing with Ingress maker Niantic.

The Nintendo NX is expected to finally roll out in the first quarter of 2016 with the new Legend of Zelda title. Nintendo could reveal more details about the console in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2016.
