Avid fans of the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise are still clamoring for the release of the next installment, "GTA 6." While there is still no official information yet on when the game will hit the shelves, reports suggest that "GTA 6" may be unveiled a few years from now.

Rockstar Games may be following a five-year pattern for the release of the sixth installment in the series, according to Grand Theft Auto official website. Given that "GTA 4" released in 2008 before "GTA 5" followed it five years later, rumors have it that the next installment will follow the same pattern, implying that "GTA 6" will be unveiled in 2018.

The release date may be pushed back as far as 2020 if the entire release history of the franchise is to be considered. However, with Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 looming, there is possibility that the much-awaited game will appear this June.

While details about Rockstar's future projects are still unknown, fans believe that the game developers will give further information during the imminent E3 2016 slated for June 14-16 in Los Angeles, California. Reportedly, Take-Two said that Rockstar is currently working on future projects, and it may appear at Sony's pre-show media event of at Microsoft.

The company used the word "projects" to indicate that they are working on several new games, according to Metro. This makes sense since they possess several studios, although none has made an official announcement for now.

According to Take-Two, Rockstar Games is currently hard at work on some great future projects that will be unveiled soon. It is rumored that the game developer is gearing up for "Red Redemption 2." Many fans have been betting on the title as there has been a reported map discovered for "Red Redemption 2."

The likelihood of another "GTA" game may not happen anytime soon since "GTA 5" is still performing well in terms of sales. The game successfully sold 65 million copies globally, and it has just hit 5 million sales in the past three months. With the game so hot, it is rational that "GTA 6" is in development, and some fans expect the sixth installment in the "GTA" franchise will be released as soon as "GTA 5" sales start to decline.

For now, fans can only remain patient to get official information from the game developer. Here is footage for more information.
