The much anticipated crime drama series, "True Detective" Season 3 has not received a green light yet from HBO, but speculations are high that the series still has a chance to air its third installment.
In his interview with The Frame, the CEO of HBO Michael Lombardo gave his insights pertaining to the "True Detective" series. He was asked on what are the things he learned about the show, given that the first season was really explosive, yet the second installment seems to have lost its path.
The network executive answered that he still does not consider the second season as a failure, but he is willing to take all the blame for what happened. He iterated that he and his team may have forced the issue too much, in terms of the deadline or the premiere of "True Detective" Season 2.
Lombardo also added that the creator of "True Detective," Nic Pizzolatto, is a great and soulful writer, and that he and Pizzolatto had great accomplishments which he wishes to replicate next year. The statement of Lombardo sparked numerous speculations that the star-studded series is going to be renewed by HBO.
On the other hand, according to Variety, it was confirmed that Pizzolatto has just signed another contract extending his work in HBO until 2018. The report cited that among the deal of the contract may be a renewal of "True Detective" to its third season.
It is said that if the series will have another season, there is a possibility that HBO may have some plans to change how the show is being handled. In addition, it is said that a new executive producer may come to help Pizzolatto in running "True Detective" Season 3, or he may just be left alone to concentrate more and copy what he has done with the show's freshman season.
As of the moment, HBO has not still released an official announcement regarding the faith of "True Detective" Season 3. Perhaps, in the coming weeks, HBO may finally reveal its plans with the said American anthology crime drama television series.
