The MacBook Air will reportedly have a minor update in the form of an improved Intel processor. The MacBook Air refresh is expected to release on Feb. 24, Tuesday, according to Czech website Letemsvetemapplem.eu (via Apple Insider).

The new processors are believed to be Intel's new ultra-low voltage Broadwell chips, which were made available to computer manufacturers last month. Apple is speculated to choose either the 2.2 GHz Core i5-5250U or the 1.8 GHz Core i5 or the 2 GHz Core i7 chip.

The new Intel chip will reportedly provide high performance but produce low heat, according to Gotta Be Mobile. This info would coincide with previous reports of a fanless design for the rumored upcoming MacBook Air.

As for the Feb. 24 release date, it was reported last week that Apple may hold a media event later this month to introduce its new products. But that is not happening, according to 9to5mac.

The Apple-centric site explains that having an event this month would not be in accordance to the company's practices in recent years. The latest February event Apple held was way back in 2006, which was for the iPod Hi-Fi.

Apple Insider seconds 9to5mac's opinion. Although the rumor seems to fit with the report that Apple will be launching its MacBook Air refresh later this month, "a minor speed boost to the current MacBook Air lineup would not likely justify a keynote," Apple Insider reasons.

What is expected though is the arrival of a new 12-inch Macbook Air with Retina display. According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will be releasing the device sometime in the first quarter of this year.

These rumors concerning Apple's MacBook Air remain unconfirmed as of this writing. Readers should take the above info with a grain of salt.
