Will Microsoft push for a Surface Pro 5 release date following its announced Windows 10 Anniversary Update this coming June? This likely will be the case as Surface Pro 4, the 2-in-1 that the Pro 5 is set to replace, is the subject of ongoing promo deals that offer discounts from $150 to $250.

Microsoft has shaved off $150 from the Surface Pro 4 that covers the Core i5 and Core i7 variants but this particular promotional campaign is set to expire May 28, according to Windows Report. There will be some form of extension but will mostly involve Surface accessories.

Still, the rumors remain that with the new Windows 10 jump the Surface maker will provide the upgraded models soon as Android Origin reported that over at Microsoft Canada the Surface Pro 4 went as low as $999 or $250 less from the sticker price. The same discount applies for the higher models as the unit, for instance, with Intel Core i7 chip, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space has been adjusted with the tag of $1890.

As the offer will last until June 9, the same report can't help but to speculate that like all deals coming from device makers one key intention is to clear out the old stocks and make room for the fresh models that will ship soon. In Microsoft's case, the Surface Pro 4 price going down strongly suggests of a product refresh that could happen real soon.

The same assumption is based too on the notion that with Windows 10 scheduled for a major step up, Microsoft would want the power and capabilities of the freshly updated operating system showcased by its in-house devices - that is, the Surface Pro 5.

However, the Pro 5 coming out in the next few months could be prevented by Microsoft's decision to wait out for the mass availability of Intel's next-generation chip known as Kaby Lake. Report said that Kaby Lake will polish the imperfections seen in the Skylake-powered Surface Pro 4 so Microsoft is only willing to make some release schedule adjustments.

The new Intel chip should be ready in the last quarter of 2016 at the earliest, which is in line with the Surface tablet release cycle as the Surface Pro 4 was launched October of last year.

Or Windows fans can choose not to wait for the Surface Pro 5 release date and not regret as the 2015 version, according to Gotta Be Mobile, is a worthy buy with the keyboard and the Surface Pen as among the key deal sealers.
