Google's next-generation flagship smartphone, dubbed for now as Nexus 2016, is reportedly designed with unlimited Google Photo backup feature, strongly indicating that users will access the service while keeping the original high-quality of captured images and recorded 4K clips. The killer feature is likely exclusive to the next Nexus devices, a new report said.

Picking up the APK teardown analysis done by Android Police, 9to5Google said that the latest version of Google Photo hinted of an upcoming feature that will support "unlimited original quality photo and video backups for Nexus devices." With the premium service activated, Google appears to give a solid reason for Android fans to favor the flagship devices that the tech giant is selling, the report added.

While Google Photo's current build offers the same unlimited backup feature, the application automatically performs optimization of pictures and videos contained on its index in keeping with the Google account storage limit. But with the build, which likely will unpack with the final cut of Android soon, the original quality or size of media files stored will be left untouched.

The adjustment will be mostly appreciated by smartphone camera enthusiasts who normally create and hoard high-resolution pics or 4K videos on their devices. The next build of Google Photo somehow gives assurance that still and clips will be made and accessed in their original state, 9to5Google reported.

Another clue dropped by the story is the possibility of a huge camera leapfrog being planned for the next Nexus smartphone camera, hardware- and software-wise. Without specifying on anything, the report indicated that the uptick on Google Photo's quality capacity seems to indicate that "Nexus devices will only get better and presumably get higher resolution cameras."

At present, both the Nexus 5X and 6P have the same 12MP main shooter, which could see a significant step up in time for the sequels' arrival soon. The best would be a 16MP main camera that works with an 8MP selfie-optimized front shooter but nothing is solid on this matter.

The next Nexus is also rumored to power up with Snapdragon 820 and up to 4GB of RAM provision with the build and design seen to largely take after the Huawei-made Nexus 6P that was widely praised for its solid and beautiful housing. HTC is the reported appointed builder of Google's next-generation stock Android device with two models likely on their way soon.

Google opted not to discuss anything on its Nexus 2016 release date plans during the recently concluded I/O 2016 but the compass points to an August unboxing, which reports said will be timed to the official rollout of Android N.
