Players who have been anticipating the release of "No Man's Sky" will have to wait a little bit longer as the developer announced that the game will hit PlayStation 4 and PC in August. The launch was initially scheduled next month.

In a statement released by Sean Murray, the founder of the developer Hello Games, via PlayStation Blog, said it was a difficult decision he had to make to do some polishing on key moments of the game. Murray has confirmed that "No Man's Sky" will come in North America on Aug. 9. The game will hit Europe on Aug. 10 and the United Kingdom on Aug. 12.

"We understand that this news is disappointing. Making this game is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but we are so close now, and we're prepared to make the tough choices to get it right," Murray wrote.

"To the loyal community who's stuck by our side since the unveiling of No Man's Sky years ago, we hope you'll accept our sincere apology and I am humbly asking that you'll still look forward to exploring our universe despite the slight delay," he added.

"No Man's Sky," which was first unveiled in 2013, promise a vast world that players can explore, so large that the developer said it would be nearly impossible for two players to come across each other in the same universe, The Verge noted.

Murray also promised via the same statement that the team is doing great with the development of this game. They want to meet the high expectations for "No Man's Sky" and do not want to mess up the one shot they got to bring an ambitious game.

"No Man's Sky" is being developed by Hello Games and is designed by Gareth Bourn. It is a survival and adventure game that will be available on PC and PS4 in single-player and multiplayer mode. At $59.99, players can already pre-order the game. PS4 users can get it digitally on PlayStation Store or on a disc in standard and limited editions. PC users can get it through Steam, GOG.com, Humble and iam8bit's exclusive Explorer's Edition.
