Floyd Mayweather is reportedly looking to make a comeback fight to chase the 50th win of his illustrious career. And if the former pound-for-pound king wants to earn a hefty paycheck, trainer Abel Sanchez said in a recent boxing news Mayweather should face Gennady Golovkin in catchweight bout.

Sanchez told On The Ropes Boxing Radio that if Mayweather really wants to earn a nine-figure revenue, he has no other choice but to fight Golovkin. The veteran trainer is convinced that there is no other fight that could matchup the possible revenue of the Mayweather-Golovkin bout.

"There's nobody at 147 or 154 that's going to give him that kind of payday," Sanchez said. "If Golovkin is able to get down to 154lbs and they make that kind of fight, I think Golovkin is the only one right now that he hasn't beaten that would give him that chance to make that kind of money."

Mayweather, who owns a perfect 49-0 record with 26 knockout victories, announced his retirement after scoring a unanimous decision win over Andre Berto in September last year. The 39-year-old superstar also scored a unanimous decision victory over Manny Pacquiao before beating Berto.

Mayweather previously insisted that he has no plans to return to the ring. However, recent boxing news revealed that he is open to facing fellow unbeaten welterweight Danny Garcia.

Garcia holds an unblemished 32-0 card and is coming off a win against Robert Guerrero in January. Sanchez thinks that boxing fans will not be interested in the Mayweather-Garcia bout, adding that other welterweight contenders like Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter are not even close to giving Mayweather another lucrative payday.

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach also said in a recent interview with BoxingScene Mayweather asked him to train UFC featherweight superstar Conor McGregor for a possible showdown. However, it remains to be seen whether or not the fantasy showdown will become a reality later this year. Roach also sounded uninterested in training McGregor for a boxing fight against Mayweather.

"I don't think it's really possible for an MMA fighter to fight a boxer, or I don't think it's really even fair," Roach said. "Depending on what rules you fight under, one person has a tremendous advantage."
