Despite the invasion of privacy of “Descendants of the Sun” star Song Joong-ki, many fans still want more of the 30-year-old Hallyu actor.

Followers of the 16-episode Korean drama would have the opportunity to watch the making of the blockbuster TV program (shown from Feb. 24 through April 14, 2016), music videos and unreleased images of its actors. KBS announced on Tuesday, through Song Joong KiTH fanpage that the South Korea broadcast giant is releasing a "Descendants of the Sun" DVD Director Cut.

The release of the DVD is in response to fans’ petition for a director’s cut after KBS doused cold water on a season 2 because of the tight schedules of the actors given that “Descendants of the Sun,” unlike other Korean dramas, is 100 percent pre-produced.

KBS also put out a three-day special in April one week after the program aired the 16th episode to satisfy fan demand.

In an announcement, KBS said that the director’s cut, available in DVD and Blu-Ray, would be released in the second half of 2016. The director’s cut was made because of the constant attention and support of fans.

Among the unpublished scenes that are added in the director’s cut is the PD yiuengbok. KBS is currently re-editing the materials. “Descendants of the Sun” broke a lot of TV records in South Korea and China and made Song Joong-ki the most popular celebrity in the two countries.

Beijing, in fact, was so alarmed by the popularity of Song Joong-ki that it warned married Chinese women not to fall in love with him because it might destroy families. But it seems Chinese authorities ate their words because they even allowed the actor to hold eight fan meets across China.
