“Vikings” actor Travis Fimmel is enjoying his time away from the hit History channel series. After doing the comedy “Maggie’s Plan” and adaptation of the popular game “Warcraft,” the 36-year-old actor is clearly now more than just the guy who plays Ragnar Lothbrok.
While he enjoys filming "Vikings," he is also quite happy to be doing a few things in between. In an interview with Boston Herald, he admitted that there were a few downsides to working on the series.
"It's been a great experience, living in Ireland for four years with a great crew. Great people. I love Ireland except it rains too much. And it's a long way from home - about 24 hours."
Before he was Ragnar Lothbrok on "Vikings," Fimmel was part of the TV series "The Beast" and "Tarzan." The outlet, however, dubbed his latest show as the "biggest hit of his career." When asked how he was able to snag the role, the actor shared that he did nothing out of the ordinary. He just sent out his audition tape and hoped for the best.
"Same as most things. I put myself on tape and sent it in, and they were dumb enough to cast me," he joked.
Now on its fourth season, Fimmel shared that his character has clearly gone through a lot. From his simple life as a farmer, Ragnar is now the king, something that he did not want, nor expect. He also pointed out that Ragnar had to sacrifice a lot of things in order to be the man he is today.
In other news, Page Six recently reported that Fimmel was spotted "getting flirty" with Gina Gershon at a Montblanc and Cinema Society party for "Maggie's Plan." While he was seen chatting up several women, it was Gershon who caught his attention. The two allegedly ended up leaving the party together after sharing a couple of drinks.
"He grabbed her hand and they walked out together," the source said.
