“The Big Bang Theory” will last for more than 10 seasons if it was up to “TBBT” executive producer Steve Molaro to decide. While some fans were less than thrilled with the recent episodes, translating to a visible decrease in ratings, the showrunner would like to believe that the story of Penny, Leonard, and Sheldon is far from over.
In an in interview with Entertainment Weekly, Molaro shared that they are not treating Season 10 as the final season for "The Big Bang Theory." Rather than worry about the show's future, he said that they are taking the series one episode at a time.
While Molaro admitted that he had quite an idea as to how the show will end, he refused to entertain thoughts about the impending series finale. He said that it makes him feel sad just thinking about it.
"I have personal thoughts that have been floating around in my head, but we haven't really talked about it. It always seems like this thing that's off in the distance forever. Until it becomes closer to a reality, I'm not going to think about it all that much, because it makes me sad."
With the show now on its tenth season, some "The Big Bang Theory" viewers felt that time is slowly running out for the hit CBS series. Several pointed out that it was not as funny as it used to be. Molaro, however, believed that there is still a lot of story left to tell. While he admitted that they were nervous to see where Season 10 takes them, he said that it was all part of the fun.
Meanwhile, Kunal Nayyar, who plays Raj Koothrappali, hinted that there is a possibility that "The Big Bang Theory" may end after Season 10. Speaking to Cinemablend, the actor explained that their contract is up after the ten seasons.
"Look - next season, as it stands on our contract, could be the last season of Big Bang Theory. To be completely honest...I know people are gonna want to know what happens after season 10. I don't know what's going to happen," he said.
