Izzy Meikle-Small had revealed she almost got the role of Sansa Stark on HBO's blockbuster series "Game of Thrones." The role eventually went to Sophie Turner, 20, who also stars as the mutant Jean Grey in Marvel's recent "X-Men: Apocalypse."
Apparently, the East Sussex-born actress knows the feeling of being on a job interview, thinking she totally nailed it, but did not get the gig. She was among those who vied for the role of Lord Eddard Stark's eldest daughter.
"I got to the final two to play Lady Sansa Sark," she told The Telegraph during the celebrity screening of "The Big Wedding" at the May Fair Hotel in 2013. She admitted she was a little sad considering how massive the show is.
However, Meikle-Small is not completely unhappy for not being part of the adaptation of R.R. Martin's literature. She stated, "Because they all show a lot of flesh, don't they? I don't think my parents would be happy."
Meanwhile, Turner got her "Game of Thrones" break in 2011 when she was unaware it was going to be a global phenomenon. She auditioned at 15 and did not even have an idea of the job she was applying for.
The role has put the young English actress in the limelight while growing up. 'That's probably the thing I've struggled with the most," she told the InStyle magazine in an interview for its July cover story.
The subject about getting the Sansa Stark role popped up years ago because Meikle-Small was mistaken for Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the series. Meikle-Small won roles in some huge projects like playing the younger Kathy H. in "Never Let Me Go," and as the young Estella in the "Great Expectations" TV version in 2011. She was also a part of the 2012 "Snow White and the Huntsman" which stars Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart.
As a follow up on her revelation, the actress tweeted about Turner's "Game of Thrones" role and emphasized she has no ill feelings. She also made a follow up tweet, "PS we've all heard of misquoting."
Sophie is the perfect Sansa Stark! I don't want anyone to think that what was reported in that initial interview resembles any bad feelings
