Since “Descendants of the Sun” concluded in mid-April, actor Song Joong-ki has been breaking new grounds. His popularity has risen immensely, he has been named second top choice as a wedding MC in a recent survey and named top commercial model the past three months.

As a model, the 30-year-old Hallyu star has endorsed an ice cream, clothes, pizza, rice cooker, water purifier, beer and even products that normally gets female models – cosmetics. On Thursday, Forencos released on YouTube and Blossom Entertainment’s Facebook page the new lipstick commercial of Song Joong-ki.

The 30-second commercial, since it was released, has become viral with almost 25,000 views on YouTube since it was posted. On Blossom Entertainment’s Facebook page, it also has a similar 22,000 views, liked by 2,200 and shared by more than 300 fans.

Forencos is a popular cosmetics brand in South Korea, selling a wide range of makeup such a lipstick, eye cream, mask pack, eyeliner, pores stick and mascara. Prices of its products range from 18,000 to 37,000 won. The actor is not just on the TV commercial but also on the face of the brand’s website and appears on the face mask package.

Normally, cosmetics companies get women to model their makeup. Of course, Song Joong-ki does not color his lips red in the advertisement, but he is nevertheless effective as an endorser of a product he does not use on a personal basis, although on shootings he possibly uses some makeup.

As proof of how effective the actor is as an endorser of lipstick, in the Comments section of Blossom Entertainment’s Facebook page, Xiao Ai wrote, “Okay, now we know what lipstick brand I’m gonna get next.” KI Degala noted that it is the first time she has seen a male model for a lipstick commercial.

It should no longer surprise Song Joong-ki’s fans after all, he and Park Bo Gum also made Domino’s Pizza history by being the first male bromance team to endorse the fast food brand.
