The recent premiere of the newest AMC TV show "Better Call Saul" has shattered cable TV records. The first episode of the series opened to 6.9 million total viewers amassing a total of 4.4 million viewers in the critical 18-49 age demographic.
The new series which is a spin-off of the highly successful "Breaking Bad" series and reunites the fans of the series to the character of Saul Goodman who is known by a another name Jimmy McGill. The opening episode did not break the record for the most viewed cable series premiere but its demographic rating is the highest-ever for a premier episode, according to E! News.
The opening episode also treated its audience to some of "Breaking Bad" characters like the grumpy Mike Ehrmantraut who works as a parking attendant and Tuco Salamanca who had a cameo appearance.
The new series is also the brainchild of "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. The first episode aptly named "Uno" opened in a black and white scene that picks up on the closing episodes of "Breaking Bad" when Saul is packing up to leave his Albuquerque law office in hopes of avoiding to be linked to Walter White's meth empire.
The next sequence reveals the melancholy life that Saul has lived after the "Breaking Bad" excursion, according to Entertainment Wise. Saul was shown to have an ugly moustache and an equally terrible hair, he was working Cinnabon outlet in Omaha, Nebraska.
After the "Better Call Saul" premier, the zombie-apocalypse series "The Walking Dead" also opened its season premier and garnered a total of 15.6 million viewers securing 10.1 million in the all-important demographics.
