"Nashville" season 5 may reportedly be picked up by country-infused cable network CMT.

The network will reportedly make an official announcement on Wednesday as to whether or not they will be picking up the Connie Britton starrer for at least one season.

According to TV Line, "Nashville" was cancelled by ABC after four seasons last month.

Following the cancellation, execs at Lionsgate and ABC said that they are confident they will be able to find a new home for the series.

Lionsgate TV chairman Kevin Beggs spoke with The Hollywood Reporter to say that they are positive another network will pick up "Nashville" that's why they decided to end season 4 with a cliffhanger.

"We wouldn't take such a strong position to advocate for the cliffhanger ending if we didn't feel good about our chances moving forward," he said.

In the finale episode, Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere) rode a plane but it lost contact so her fate wasn't confirmed. It is unclear if the character is dead or alive.

Previously, the creators of "Nashville" confirmed that they shot an alternate ending for season 4 which was supposed to show that Juliette is alive. The character was also going to reunite with her husband Avery (Jonathan Jackson). Unfortunately, this version wasn't the one that aired on May 25.

Meanwhile, prior to "Nashville's" cancellation, it was already reported that season 5 would have two different showrunners. Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick are supposed to take the lead in writing episodes for the show. However, ABC announced that they have decided to cancel it.

Some fans believe that two new showrunners wouldn't be tapped if the show doesn't have any hope for renewal. The only question now is, which among the original cast members will return to "Nashville" season 5 if it moves to CMT.

As of late, reps for ABC, Lionsgate and CMT failed to make any comments.

"Nashville" also starred Charles Esten as Deacon, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O'Connor, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Will Chase as Luke Wheeler, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad, Eric Close as Teddy Conrad, Chaley Rose as Zoey Dalton and more.
