Psychonauts has finally made its way to the PlayStation 4 despite Sony's error in the release date details of the PS2 classic.

PS4 players can now download the Psychonauts PlayStation 2 classic on the PlayStation Store for $9.99. The adventure platformer can bring nostalgia for those who have played the original version two console generations back.

Sony's PlayStation Blog had listed the game on June 5 for a release date two days later. However, the company later removed the title from the list and apologized for the mistake.

Since they have said that the June 7 release date was an error, fans of the game have assumed that it will be moved to a later date. However, the game was released on the same date again.

Psychonauts will also be coming to the PlayStation VR headset as the developers have announced, IGN has learned. The sequel of the PS2 classic seems to be possible too as the crowd-funded project has already reached its funding goal.

Players can now join Razputin in his quest to be one of the psychic secret agents across the world. The game has its weird twists but it makes for an overall enjoyable game considering that it made its return two console generations later as a classic.

Double Fine Productions had successfully raised $3.8 million for the game's creation, Gamenguide reported. There is no news yet on whether the new sequel will allow cooperative play or if there would be a new villain in the story.

The original Psychonauts game's conflict was that the other agents were taken by a mysterious enemy. Razputin then went on a quest to find them in order to save the others and to embody the true meaning of a Psychonaut.

PlayStation 4 users who want to download Psychonauts for their console will need at least 4GB of free space on the hard drive. The sequel has been greenlighted thanks to the successful crowd-funding project and the spinoff title could make its way to the PlayStation VR. The release dates for the aforementioned games have not been revealed yet but they could be announced at the E3 2016 event.
