Ingress developer Niantic and Nintendo have made fans highly excited for the upcoming release of the Pokémon GO augmented reality mobile game for both the iOS and Android platform.

Some would say that the game is a perfect cross between the Ingress AR game and Pokémon. It would allow players to walk or run around their neighborhood in order to catch the pocket monsters or maybe to take over Pokémon Gyms.

Just like Niantic's successful AR title on the mobile platform, the player would actually need to travel in order to progress in the game. They will be able to interact with other players as they battle or maybe even trade.

Pokémon GO might have been born out of an April Fools' Day joke in 2014 when the Google Maps team launched a trailer for a fake augmented reality game, TechCrunch has learned. Due to the insistent public demand, the search engine giant could have given in and made the game for real which is now expected to be released in a few weeks.

Niantic's magic was coupled with The Pokémon Company's creativeness in the upcoming mobile game. Millions of fans are already waiting for its release on the Android and iOS platform.

Players will also be able to use their cameras to search for a Pokémon nearby. The Pokémon GO game will also take the popular landmarks or points of interest in an area and turn them into Pokestops and Pokémon Gyms, WIRED reported.

Most of the landmarks data are taken from the Ingress database, which was made possible thanks to the crowdsourcing the game generated. Players were able to suggest a local landmark in their area for consideration as a point of Interest and it could still work with the new Nintendo mobile game.

Niantic and Nintendo have already conducted trial runs of the mobile AR game in different continents across the world. Lucky players in Japan, the United States and others were able to experience the game.

Pokémon GO can make an appearance at the upcoming E3 2016 event and the release date could also be finally revealed. Considering that the trial tests are plenty enough, the game could be in its final stages of development.
