This year's 27th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed that the anime adaptation of Yuto Tsukada's "Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma" will once again ride for another season on July 2. The anticipation for "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Second Plate" is slowly building up, particularly now that the anime's official website just released an exciting teaser image from the forthcoming season. The culinary action continues on with the main cast from Season 1 - Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Risa Taneda, Minami Takahashi, Junichi Suwabe, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Natsuki Hanae, Saori Onishi, Chinatsu Akasaki and Hiroki Yasumoto - which will all reprise their respective roles in the upcoming season.

Apart from that, Japanese voice actor Hiroki Yasumoto, 39, has joined the cast for the upcoming season. Yasumoto, who was catapulted to popularity for her role as Agil in "Sword Art Online," will voice Subaru Mimasaka, a 92nd Totsuki Generation student of the Tōtsuki Culinary Academy.

Dubbed as King of Stalkers, Mimasaka's unique foundation for his cooking style is said to be mimicry, in which he thoroughly analyzes his rivals' habits and cooking style to take the latter's intended dish recipes and procedure. Using such cooking style apparently gave Mimisaka a faultless 99-win streak, not until he challenged Sōma Yukihira in a Shokugeki battle.

With Japanese anime director Yoshitomo Yonetani at the helm, it is said that the plot for the second season will heavily revolve around Sōma's journey all through his stay in the said international school. Sōma is expected to further improve and innovate his cooking techniques, as he is constantly challenged by his notorious classmates to a cooking duel.

While Sōma is mainly in the spotlight, it is said that several other characters - each with exceptional quirks and ambitions in cooking - are also expected to receive development of their own. The upcoming season is based on a script written by Shogo Yasukawa and features animation by J.C. Staff.

Much to the delight of fans, Warner Brothers Japan recently published a new 15-second commercial film (CF) for "Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma: The Second Plate." The CF gives fans a glimpse of the season's opening theme, titled "Rough Diamonds," which is performed by SCREEN mode, Crunchy Roll has learned.

The new animated TV series debuts on Japan's MBS on July 2, with additional airings booked on BS11, ANIMAX and Tokyo MX. Check out the CF below:
