Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was released in October last year. MacBook 2016 was released in April this year.

Let's have a look at the specs of Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and MacBook 2016.

Both devices are costly. The 2016 MacBook carries a price tag of $1299 and the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 begins at $899.

The Surface Pro 4 weighs 1.73 (Core i) or 1.69 (Core m3) pounds and measures 11.5 x 7.93 x .33 inches. The MacBook 2016, on the other hand, weighs 2.03 pounds and measures 11.04 x 7.74 x .14-.52 inches.    

The MacBook 2016 has two inputs: a 3.5mm audio input and a USB Type-C. Thunderbolt is not supported by the USB Type-C.

On the other hand, the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has microSD card slot, proprietary charger, Mini DisplayPort and USB 3.0 input.

The Surface Pro 4 sports a 12.3-inch display with a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels. The MacBook 2016 features a 12-inch display with a resolution of 2304 x 1440 pixels.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Both cameras shoot 1080p video.

The MacBook 2016, on the other hand, comes with a 480p FaceTime camera.

The Apple device ships with a Core m5 processor or a 1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core m3 processor with Intel HD 515 integrated graphics and 4MB L3 cache.

The sixth generation Intel Core i7, i5 and m3 processors inside the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are more efficient and powerful than before.

The Microsoft device is powered by Windows 10, whereas the Apple device is powered by OS X El Capitan.

Windows 10 allows for more diverse workflows and customization as it supports many hardware types. The operating system handles multitasking extremely well through Task View, and enables easier access to quick settings.

The Mail app of OS X is far superior to the Windows 10 client.

Meanwhile, the tech company has opened UK pre-orders for premium versions of Surface Book notebook and Surface Pro 4 tablet.

The top-end version of the 12.3-inch Microsoft Surface Pro 4  is priced at £2,199. The device comes with a 1TB SSD, 16GB of RAM and Intel Core i7 processor. The 13.5-inch Surface Book is priced at £2,649.

In addition, the company is offering a pre-order bonus for the first 250 purchasers of these premium models. Consumers who pre-order the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (1TB) will get a £44.95 Maroo Leather Sleeve and consumers who pre-order the Microsoft Surface Book will get a store voucher, worth £45.

The two devices will be released in the United Kingdom on June 30. Buyers can pre-order them from the Microsoft Store.
