New details for "God of War" will feature a pre-order and possible release date fort the PlayStation 4, as well as gamers controlling Kratos's son and no open world features.

Sony and Santa Monica Studio announced a new "God of War" sequel during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo this week along with a new gameplay trailer for the PlayStation 4 console. Creative director Cory Balrog stated in an interview that the fourth "God of War" game will take place after the events of "God of War 3" were gamers see a much older and grizzled Kratos leaving in the Norse world with his unnamed son.

Balrog added that gameplay of the new "God of War" sequel will be totally different from the previous games giving gamers a new feel and experience as he explains that they are "reimagining" it from scratch as well as continuing Kratos story in the series, Gamerant reported.

Kratos in the sequel will encounter new monsters and possibly gods based on Norse mythology as the previous "God of War" games has him fighting Olympian monsters and gods, but since he has killed most of the Olympian gods, it will not be long if the Norse gods will take notice of him and sees him as a dangerous threat. Kratos weapon of choice will be different as he uses a magical battle axe instead of his famous blades of chaos. It has the ability to produce ice based powers and can be summoned back when thrown as projectile to enemies.

But what makes the new "God of War" interesting is that Kratos will not be alone in his new journey in the Norse realm as his unnamed son will be accompaniying him throughout the whole game. Kratos' son can be used by players throughout the game as he can be summon to help his father during battles. Part of the game's plot will focus on Kratos being a father and mentor to his son as he tries to redeem himself from his past mistakes from the previous titles and start fresh with his new found life and family, Kotaku reported.

When fans asked if the new "God of War" will be an open world feature, Balrog stated that the game will be open, but it will not be an open world style gameplay.

So far, Sony has not yet announced an official release date for the new "God of War" game for the PS4. However, the official website of Amazon revealed the pre-order details of the game at $59.99 with a released date placeholder on Dec. 29, 2017.

Gamers will just have to wait for more details on the new "God of War" game soon, not to mention its official game title for the PS4 console.
