Asus is now selling the Zenpad Z8 iPad Mini 4 killer for $249.99 through Verizon Wireless and is available for monthly installments alongside their data plans.

The 7.9-inch tablet is slated for shipping on June 23 but interested buyers can preorder the ASUS Zenpad Z8 tablet from Verizon. It is certainly cheaper than the Apple iPad Mini 4 which costs at least $399.

Apple's products have always been expensive because of the brand but there are alternatives with nearly the same specs of their devices or even better with significantly cheaper price tags. The tablet from ASUS boasts a display with 2048 by 1536 pixels resolution.

Out of the box, the device runs the current Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow version. The Zenpad Z8 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset with a 64-bit hexa-core processor, PC World has learned.

Powering the graphics is the Adreno 510 GPU along with 2GB of RAM. It also sports the new USB Type-C port and uses a 4680mAh battery that can allow users to use the tablet for up to 13 hours or up to 23 days on standby.

Interested buyers can pay for the ASUS Zenpad Z8 in a two-year contract with Verizon with an upfront fee of $149.99 and $10.41 per month, PC Magazine reported. It comes cellular-ready at its cheap price compared to the iPad Mini 4 with cellular capabilities at a staggering $529 which costs more than the NVIDIA GTX 1070 Founders Edition graphics card.

The tablet is also powerful enough to play 4K UHD videos and it supports the Vulkan API. Users can store all their videos through a microSD as it also supports expandable storage for up to 128GB besides the internal storage of 16GB.

Users can also snap photos using the tablet's front camera with 2MP and the rear with 8MP. They can upload their photos to Facebook or Instagram via the Wi-Fi or 4G LTE connectivity of the device.

ASUS has outdone itself with the Zenpad Z8 which can take on the expensive iPad Mini 4 from Apple. It ships next month for $249.99 but buyers can now preorder from Verizon and choose to pay for it under a two-year contract.
