Whether in a local or foreign tourist destination, the Chinese tourist has become notorious for not behaving properly. Even before Shanghai Disneyland formally opened on June 16, there were reports of local tourists vandalizing shops in Disneytown by picking flowers, sleeping on the grass and kids urinating or defecating by the bushes.
Shanghaiist reported that in Kyoto, at the Pure Water Temple where tourists could only use cups with long handles to catch water, believed to be sacred, that pours out the Otowa Waterfall, a Mandarin-speaking tourist did otherwise. Not only did he not fall in line to wait for his turn to catch the water, the man went down into the pool where the water fell and used a plastic bottle to collect the sacred water.
Many visitors believe that the water from the fall could help anyone who drinks it in their studies, love life and to have a long life. Someone snapped a photo of the man and posted it on Weibo which elicited some comments from Chinese netizens.
Since the male Chinese tourist was middle-aged, one netizen commented he is quite too old to benefit from the water of love. There is also the belief that if a tourist takes more than one sip, which is the recommended maximum, it would not help the drinker in the thing he or she is hoping for.
On the other side of the globe, Jhnewsandguide reported that Nasim Mansurove, a photographer from Denver, Colorado, visited with his family in May the Yellowstone National Park. He noticed park rangers confronted Chinese tourists who were using selfie sticks and posing as close as five to eight feet of a bedded bull bison.
The tourists were shouted at and shooed away by the park rangers. Mansurove believes the misbehaving Chinese tourists should have been issued tickets by the rangers.
