MTV's "Teen Wolf" has welcomed viewers to a world filled with mythical creatures and monsters all throughout its five-season run. Now with its sixth outing underway, there's a lot of buzz surrounding which folklore or mythology will be explored.

There were rumors that Scott McCall (played by Tyler Posey) and his pack will face zombies and a vampire coven in "Teen Wolf" Season 6. Speculations suggest that the show may follow "The Vampire Diaries" by bringing to the fore the legendary conflict between werewolves and vampires.

Showrunner Jeff Davis, however, dispelled such rumors, explaining that the show is not geared towards that kind of monster story. He added that the mythology being explored in "Teen Wolf" Season 6 is on a whole different level and will definitely come as a surprise to fans.

"If season 5B was a monster movie, which is what we went for, season 6 is a bit of a ghost story," Davis teased about what's to come, Hollywood Life reported. Coinciding with this point, actress Holland Roden, who plays Lydia on the series, shared a photo from the set featuring a dilapidated carousel. This only goes to show that "Teen Wolf" Season 6 will be creepier than seasons past.

The new mythology, on which "Teen Wolf" Season 6 is based, is said to be a "pretty big" arc that is "technically very difficult" and will definitely reinvent the show. Rest assured, there will be two villains in "Teen Wolf" Season 6, including the Nazi soldier that was first introduced in the fifth season.

"He will be lurking about Season 6 and causing a lot of trouble. It may actually allow us to explore another episode in WWII," Davis told TV Guide. "We had a lot of fun doing the fox and the wolf with the Japanese internment camp episode so we may revisit that."

According to Davis, the concept of memory will be a pivotal element on the show, so it is expected that many ghosts of the past will come to haunt Beacon Hills or give them an important reminder.

Meanwhile, MTV has not announced the official release date for "Teen Wolf" Season 6.
