"Red Dead Redemption 2" release date and an introduction were one of the highly anticipated announcements during the E3 event last week. However, "Red Dead" was missing in action during the event, thus igniting various rumors including possible new platform launching.
Prior to the rumored new platforms intended for "Red Dead Redemption 2," it has been previously speculated that the game's developer, Take-Two Interactive, which was supposed to introduce the next chapter of the game series during the game expo, reconsidered their plan because of some concerns
It was reported that the game's trailer was supposed to feature an outlaw shooting up a tavern, which the company deemed to be insensitive in light of the recent Orlando mass shooting. However, Sony was quick to dispel the rumor, saying that there was no truth to it, according to PlayStation Lifestyle.
And just days after the E3 event ended and after Sony clarified the issue of "RDR 2" cancellation, another rumor came to fore suggesting that specific marketing reasons might be behind the appearance cancellation of "RD" during the game expo.
In a separate report, Take-Two has gazed its interest with Nintendo NX and even with VR platforms. In an exclusive interview with The Streets, Take-Two Interactive chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick emphasized the company's interest on rising platforms.
"The way we look at all new technology is we're here to delight consumers." Zelnick told The Street. "And if they find a piece of hardware compelling, it's our job to develop and deliver the software to make that the most exciting entertainment experience that one could have. We think with the highest-rated software in the interactive business, we're uniquely positioned to do that."
Though there was no confirmation on the fate of "RDR 2" and its possible release date on any platform, it would somehow suggest that future games of Take-Two will eventually involve Nintendo NX and VR platforms. But still, it is too early to conclude especially that the company is still continuing R&D and studying economic opportunities with the said platforms.
Putting all the latest rumors and company's recent gestures and statements, it would likely be that the rumored 2016 release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be pushed further, possibly next year. Guess we would just have to wait and see the updates in the comings months, on whether the game developer has something to add to their marketing strategy.
