Meanwhile, Scott Burgess of Motor Trend, who took the 2016 Acura ILX for a test drive, thinks Acura engineers and designers "have struck the right cord" with this latest luxury sedan. Burgess says the sedan is luxurious, fun to drive and fuel-efficient.

Buyers checking out the 2016 Acura ILX will find that it comes in two engine options. There is the entry-level 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 2.4-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine.

The 2.0-liter engine comes with automatic transmission, while the 2.4-liter engine is coupled to a new eight-speed dual clutch transmission (8DCT). The latter also comes with a torque converter and paddle-controlled Sequential Sport Shift.

The latest Honda luxury sedan also sports an improved chasis design and returned suspension. The sedan's new features aim to help drivers steer the car better.

The 2016 Acura ILX received an EPA rating of 29 miles per gallon (mpg) on average. This translates to 25 mpg during city driving and 36 mpg when driving on the highway.

Honda offers the latest Acura ILX model in three main grades, namely the standard ILX, the Premium ILX and the ILX Tech Plus Package. Units with AcuraWatch Plus and A-SPEC will also be available.

The A-SPEC package is optional. It adds foglamps, aluminum floor pedals, special seat inserts, rear deck spoiler and 18-inch wheels.

The 2016 Acura ILX starts at $27,900 for the base model and $29,200 for one that has the AcuraWatch Plus safety package. The premium model sells at $29,900, while a unit with the top-of-the-line Tech Plus comes at $32,900.
