"Game of Thrones" Season 6 is already on the first half, and fans are starting to wonder if George RR Martin would finish his following novel "Winds of Winter" by the time the series end its sixth season.

According to some reports, the "Winds of Winter" would be out later than expected but it would happen this year, as Martin is reported to be wrapping up the final chapters of the novel. Although due to unexpected circumstances, the writer failed to meet his schedule, which led to the delayed launch of the novel.

According to The Bitbag, Martin dished out some major details about his upcoming novel, which got fans thinking that the writer is finally about to finish writing "The Winds of Winter." During Martin's appearance in Balticon Convention, he was able to share a spec of detail about one character that would be introduced in his upcoming novel, Aeron Greyjoy.

Martin described the new Greyjoy character as a hundred times more ruthless than Ramsey Bolton, whom fans despised because of all the evil that he has done with the people of the North, especially to Sansa.

Although this sneak peek excite a lot of fans Martin's recent blog entry revealed that the writer is currently not in the right condition to polish the remaining chapters of "The Winds of Winter." Martin stated that he is now back home after a wonderful trip from New York and Baltimore, but it seemed like it was not just good memories that he took home, as Martin stated "Great trip... but I seem to have brought the plague home with me." As it turns out, the writer is suffering from symptoms such as fever, headache and congestion, which also meant that "Winds of Winter" is put on hold indefinitely.

In other news, according to IBTimes, the "Game of Thrones" series would be able to "spoil a number of plots" for the upcoming novel. It is reported that the series is already getting a little far ahead from Martin's novel, which meant that a lot of revelations that would be seen on "Winds of Winter" would already be shown in the later part of the series. 

"The Winds of Winter" is expected to be released sometime this year.
