Original "Resident Evil 2" director Hideki Kamiya thinks that a remake of the popular zombie game will become successful when it will be released by Capcom. He has also pestered the game company to make the remake soon.
Kamiya might not be directly involved with Capcom these days, but he did promise that the remake of the horror zombie game will become successful, and the development team of the remake will do great. He said to Polygon in an interview that it is an honor that what he created still resonates with other people and they still want to play it, and that the game company is going to put all of their effort to remake the game.
Kamiya also revealed that the Jun Takeuchi, who is the director of the remake, is actually someone who joined the game company in the same year as he did. He is close to the director and they were both game designers of the original video game, and now they are drinking buddies. Behind the scenes, he would try to convince the director to do the remake of the horror zombie video game, but he would turn down the idea, since they were busy with other games.
According to Attack of the Fanboy, Kamiya will not be directing the remake of the horror zombie video game, due to his commitment to another game called "Scalebound," which will be released for Xbox One and PC. He did drop hints that the remake will be in the capable hands of his friend, and he also gave some input to the development team to help them a little. He also wants to join the Platinum development team if they are going to make a third game for fast action shooter video game "Bayonetta."
Kamiya is also proud as a fan of the game, and not just someone who made it. He is also happy that his friend listened to his idea, and that the game company finally gave the go signal to do the remake.
