Author George R. R. Martin is under fire for delaying the release of the much-anticipated book "Winds of Winter." Analysts say that if Martin wrote as fast as author Stephen King then the former would have finished the whole series of "A Song of Ice and Fire" by 2003.

Martin recently interviewed King at Kiva Auditorium in Albuquerque as a part of the latter's book tour, according to Bangor Daily. Martin was surprised at King's incredible writing speed. He asked the author of the book "End of Watch" how the latter managed to write so many books so fast.

Martin said that it takes him almost half a year to write just three chapters whereas in the same time span King is able to finish off three books. King replied that he himself is a very demanding taskmaster and he makes sure that he writes at least six pages per day.

The candid answer surprised Martin and he asked further whether King never doubts his capabilities as a writer. Martin said that he is always doubting his talent as a writer and many a times he thinks he is no good and should have had been a plumber instead.

Martin has been working on his beloved series "A Song of Ice and Fire" for the last two decades. Two books of the series are still to be completed and released to the public. If he wrote at King's speed then he would have had finished off the entire series in 2003, according to Esquire.

There are rumors that Martin is currently wrapping up the sixth book in the series, which is titled as "Winds of Winter." He is speculated to be working on the last chapter and so the book will soon be ready for editing, proof-reading and publishing.

"Winds of Winter" release is rumored to happen in Jan. 2017, at the earliest. Martin also released a few sample chapters from the book "Winds of Winter" to appease the fans who have been waiting anxiously for it.
