Well-known Apple blogger John Gruber floated the idea of a synchronized release date for the MacBook Pro 2016 and the iPhone 7, arguing that both devices will unbox lacking the 3.5mm audio jack. And it's highly likely that his prediction will come true as the iPhone 6S and the existing MBP models are now the subjects of irresistible promo deals.

The 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro that boasts of a dual-core Intel Core i5 2.7GHz processor and tapped into 8GB of RAM with 128GB SSD is down to just $999 over at Best Buy, Cult of Mac reported. But the package is reserved only for students and those getting the deal are required to register with the seller.

Qualified laptop buyers, the report added, will get the voucher code from Best Buy via email that they can use to claim the $100 discount.

But if the gadget shopping hunt involves scoring an iPhone 6S buy with the biggest possible savings, Apple fans are in luck as Gotta Be Mobile listed an interesting bunch of killer deals that offer the latest iOS flagship phone with price offs that go as high as $300. The 6S deals come from giant retailers and service providers.

Walmart, for instance, shaves $100 off the original iPhone 6S sticker price with buyers getting to choose from storage sizes of their preference. On Best Buy's part, the discount amounts to $199 while Target dangles $50 to $100 rebate depending on the 6S package that buyers will pick. It should be noted that the promos include tie up with telcos and customers can pick from AT&T, Sprint and Verizon as their choice of service providers.

For shoppers wanting to deal directly with the telcos, the biggies have decided to sweeten the pie for the customers to easily grab. The savings can go as high $300 or more like in the bundles from AT&T and Verizon but they involve swapping of old smartphones that are in good working condition

Buying the iPhone 6S from AT&T promises cash back of up to $650 on the condition that subscribers will take out two units of the flagship phone, which should be ideal for couples or families looking to snag the iOS device for the first time.

As GBM noted on its reports, these iPhone 6S deals are the best that buyers can get hold off as Apple is only expected to implement a significant price cut back on its existing flagships following the next iPhone launch later this 2016.

And speaking of which, the iPhone 7 release date is likely timed with the unboxing of the MacBook Pro 2016 as Gruber proposed in a recent blog that the plan to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack will also affect the upcoming MBP refresh. As the devices will see the same design adjustment, it makes sense that they will be unpacked at the same time or at least in quick succession. And that just might happen starting September 2016.
