NVIDIA seems to be getting ready to wreck the AMD Radeon RX 480 as more leaked information about the GTX 1060 surfaces in the form of alleged presentation slides showing the possible official specs.

When the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 were revealed and launched, there were no clear contenders from AMD. The RX 480 was geared towards beating the current GTX 980 in terms of power draw and price point, but NVIDIA is reportedly planning to match that with their upcoming GTX 1060 video card also powered by the Pascal GPU architecture.

As expected, the GP106 card has significantly less CUDA cores at 1280 compared to the GTX 1080's 2560. The NVIDIA GTX 1060 presentation slides show that it will have a boost clock of up to 1700MHz which puts it at roughly 4.4 TFLOPs, Videocardz has learned.

One of the slides also mention that the GTX 1060 will be "much faster than an RX 480" which is weird considering that the Polaris 10 card has 5.8 TFLOPs in maximum compute performance which is higher than 1 TFLOPs that of the GP106 card from NVIDIA. The performance difference could come in the form of the boost clock as the RX 480 only has 1266MHz for the reference cards.

The GTX 1060 will be having 6GB GDDR5 memory the same as its bigger brothers the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1070 but with a lower capacity overall, HEXUS reported. It will also have a much lower power rating at 120W TDP compared to the RX 480's 150W.

Another slide also shows the performance differences of the GTX 1060 vs the Radeon RX 480 in terms of "Performance," "VR Performance," and "Power Efficiency." The graph seems to be greatly exaggerated to make the green card look better in its stats.

The teaser image also shows that the GTX 1060 has "the power of GTX 980 for every gamer" and that it will be coming in July, which has been the speculated month of the earlier reports. It is expected that the GTX 1060 card will have its paper launch on July 7 to disrupt the sales of the AMD Radeon RX 480 which seems to be going pretty well.
