Shanghai's tourism authorities have limited the number of people that will be allowed to visit the Spring Festival holiday's 72 attractions.

They said that only 35,000 visitors will be permitted to enter the Oriental Pearl TV Towers in the Pudong New Area. There will be a ceiling of 15,000 visitors at any given time, said Ecns.

The TV towers, which overlook the Huangpu River (also known as Huangxiepu or Chunshen River), is one of the city's top three national tourist attractions along with the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum and Shanghai Wildlife Park.

A total of 96,000 people will be allowed to visit the animal park. Some 30,000 people can only be admitted to the science museum each day with no more than 10,000 at a time.

In Gucun Park in Baoshan District, the daily limit will be 177,610. At the Yuyuan Garden, a daily maximum of 15,000 is allowed with no more than 3,000 at one time.

All of the ceiling figures were calculated based on inputs from experts and with the help of the planning and architecture, city tourism, greenery and public security bureaus, the administration said.

Tourism operators should halt the sale of tickets to the event and strictly abide by the allotted numbers. The public also has the right to know how many people will be attending to decide whether or not they should buy a ticket.
