Jeremy Lin is moving yet again and this time he will be playing for the Brooklyn Nets. Lin announced he will be joining the ballclub, agreeing to a three-year $36 million deal, a big jump from his old paycheck with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Nets will be Lin’s fifth NBA team where he will also be reunited with former New York Knicks assistant coach Kenny Atkinson. Atkinson is the new head coach and will be tasked to call the shots this coming season.

Lin revived his career last year with the Charlotte Hornets coming off the bench. Though the Hornets wanted to retain his services, team budget limitations were seen to make that unlikely.

The Hornets prioritized Nicolas Batum and Marvin Williams. Based on the salaries likely to be offered, the ballclub may not have enough to convince Lin to stay.

Lin is expected to be a starter for coach Atkinson next season following the release of Jarrett Jack. Jack suffered a season-ending ACL injury back in January, Sports Illustrated reported.

The 27-year-old American-Asian has everything going for him with the deal. Not only did he get his wish to return to New York, he gets to play under someone who knows how to utilize him effectively. Lin gave Atkinson a lot of credit for his development when both were still with the Knicks, according to ESPN.

The Nets hope that whatever success Lin had with the Hornets will fire up the team next season. Lin has proven that he can score and make things happen though consistency will be needed.

The Nets are not considered one of the top teams in the NBA next season though the reunited Atkinson-Lin connection could be a good place to start.

Lin gets a well-deserved salary though he needs to maintain the level of play he showed last year. Failure to do so will mean another botched opportunity, the same way he did when he first joined the Houston Rockets in 2012.
