Rumors are rife that Rockstar Games' upcoming sixth installment of its hugely successful "Grand Theft Auto" franchise could take place in Seattle, debunking reports that the game will be set in a country outside of the United States.

If the paper talk is anything to go by, "GTA 6" could feature a Seattle map, be twice the size of the previous Los Santos and Blaine County maps, with a storyline that could apparently revolve around a smuggling operation in the Emerald City, according to the GTA 5 Cheats blog.

The blog, which looks at different cities in the U.S. that could be used as a setting for the forthcoming video game, noted that Seattle would be an ideal location for the open-world action adventure title despite the fact that the Washington city does not have the crime rate and violence that the "GTA" series has garnered a reputation for.

However, this problem could be solved if Rockstar North introduces a new storyline based on Seattle's economic and geographical features. Since the city has a major shipping port that connects North America to Asia, a story focusing on a smuggling ring in Seattle could be a possible plot for the video game.

"Shipping, logging, biotech, electronics, Amazon and Boeing" are some of the businesses that could play into the smuggling plot. Even though a trafficking operation might sound dull on paper, its audio-visual potential for "GTA 6" is immense.

There is also a lot of speculation that the upcoming video game will feature a female protagonist and Eva Mendes will reportedly lend her voice to the character with partner, Ryan Gosling, voicing the male lead.

Rockstar did not reveal any details about the game at E3 2016, but reports suggest the title's release date will be anywhere between 2018 and 2020, given the continued success of "GTA Online," as we previously reported.
