The "Philomena" actress said the Latin aphorism was her personal motto. She told the publication, "That's my motto: 'Seize the day. Finty gave it to me for my 81st birthday. She's wonderful with surprises."

The "007" star who is known for her humor remarked that the saying was interpreted more comically by her fellow cast members of "A Winter's Tale." She was shooting for the film at the time she got inked and jokingly told the crew members the Latin phrase meant "Fish of the Day."

Dench is said to have long entertained the thought of a tattoo. In 2014, she pulled a prank involving a tattoo with producer Harvey Weinstein during filming by convincing him that she tattooed his name on her buttocks but she had the make-up artist write his name and embarrassed the producer by showing it to him.

Meanwhile, Dench is gearing to play the role of Queen Victoria for a second time on film, Guardian reported. The movie titled "Victoria and Abdul" chronicles the true to life account of Queen Victoria and her relationship with personal attendant Abdul Karim.

The Oscar winner will join director Stephen Fears for their third movie together after working together in "Philomena" and "Mrs Henderson Presents." The upcoming project is based on the novel by Shrabani Basu titled "Victoria & Abdul: The True Story of the Queen's Closet Confidant."

The screenplay for "Victoria and Abdul" has been written by Lee Hall, who penned the script for "Billy Elliot." The film traces the story of Karim who leaves India to serve the Queen during her golden jubilee festivities. As the Monarch and Karim become close, the queen replaces him with her close confidante John Brown.
