"Evolve" has ranked in the Top 20 on Steam recently after Turtle Rock Studios decided to make it a free to play game. The video game currently has at least 24,000 users playing and enjoying its multiplayer features.

The monster-focused multiplayer shooter video game has recently changed its name to "Evolve Stage 2" after its relaunch. It is showing a significant increase in the number of players as a result of changing it to free to play, according to the official website of Steam Charts.

According to Polygon, the video game got 234 players trying it out in June 2016, before the big decision from the game studio. After the big announcement, the game has averaged 567 concurrent players, which is a large gain over the previous month. It was revealed that the relaunched game now has an all-time peak of 27,403 concurrent players.

The game peaked at 157 concurrent players before the relaunch version was released. It struggled to climb up to 1,000 users for all of 2016, which averaged only hundreds for the previous months. The game studio's decision to make it a free to play game was really needed after failing so badly.

When this game launched in February 2015, it hit a high peak of 27,000 players. The number of players dropped right away to under 7,000 for the following month. They were disappointed of its gameplay after a few days it was launched, hence the huge drop of users.

While this multiplayer shooter game hit 25,167 recently, it is still a low number compared to other top titles with multiplayer features. "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" has peaked at 615,231 recently, while popular MOBA "Dota 2" has gained 906,072 players. The recent rise of its number of players is still a significant event, according to Gamespot.

For interested players who want to try out the multiplayer shooter video game, they can download the beta version now for free. The game studio has some fine tuning to do in the game to work on the console, so PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will have to wait. Publisher 2K revealed in a statement that the video game has improved on gameplay systems, characters, and unlockables.
