While fans are waiting for the premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, Nina Dobrev, 27, is filming the remake of "Flatliners." She is playing a character named Marlo in the horror sci-fi drama film about medical students experimenting on near-death experiences.
On July 9, Saturday, Dobrev was in Toronto, Canada, for the filming of the "Flatliners" remake that is set to be released in 2017. She was heading to the set with a big and bright umbrella to escape the rain, Just Jared reported.
Released on Aug. 10, 1990, the original "Flatliners" movie was written by peter Filardi and directed by Joel Schumacher. It starred Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin, Oliver Platt, Benjamin Mouton, Joshua Rudoy, Julia Roberts, Kimberly Scott and Hope Davis, among others.
It has been confirmed that Sutherland is joining the cast of the "Flatliners" remake, which is being directed by "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" director Niels Arden Oplev. He will play a seasoned doctor in the remake, Deadline has learned.
Ben Ripley wrote the screenplay of the remake based on the original script by Stephen Susco. With Dobrev and Sutherland, the remake also stars James Norton, Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemons and Ellen Page.
On the small screen, Sutherland is set to star in a new ABC series titled "Designated Survivor," which will premiere on Sept. 21. On the other hand, Dobrev is rumored to be reuniting with her former boyfriend Ian Somerhalder in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, which will premiere on The CW on Oct. 21.
The last time Dobrev played Elena Gilbert in The CW was in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 2 episode 22 titled "I'm Thinking of You All the While," which aired on May 14, 2015. The character's voice was featured in Season 7 episode 22 titled "Gods and Monsters," which aired on May 13.
