"Descendants of the Sun" actor Song Joong-ki, 30, will be appearing at the beer festival opening on July 14 at Sinchon, Seoul, South Korea. The Hallyu star is said to serve as a face for distiller Hite-Jinto, which is sponsoring the event.

The news came just two weeks after the company announced on Facebook that they would set up an artificial shoreline at the festival and invite the "Descendants of the Sun" star if the said post reached at least 10,000 likes. The number of likes surpassed 20,000 within two days.

Sinchon's main street will be transformed to resemble a sandy beach on July 14 and July 15. It will take place in Sinchon Yonsei-ro, Seoul, which extends from Sinchon Station exits' three and four up to the front gate of Yonsei University, The Korea Herald reported.

The two-day beer festival opens from 7:00 PM (EST) on July 14, Thursday. Tickets can be purchased on-site. However, the event organizer already announced that the much-awaited beer festival may be postponed if it heavily rains.

Much to the delight of everyone, there will be a couple of snacks available at the festival. Visitors, on the other hand, can have food delivered from nearby restaurants. Without further ado, Hite-Jinto released the official poster for the much-awaited Sinchon Beer Festival.

The first Sinchon Beer Festival took place in October 2015. The first event was listed in the Korea Records Institute for holding the record of 3,169 beer glasses simultaneously involved in a toast.

Song initially rose to fame in the historical drama "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and the variety show "Running Man" in 2010. The actor experienced a tremendous growth in his popularity all through Asia after he took on the lead role, Army Captain Yoo Si Jin, aka Big Boss, in KBS2's "Descendants of the Sun" alongside Song Hye-kyo.

The actor is also slated to hold a fan meeting in Shanghai, China. The much-awaited Shanghai fan meet event, which was initially scheduled on June 5, has now been officially rescheduled for July 16, 7:30 PM at Shanghai Indoor Stadium, Kpop Herald has learned.
