Fans of Gerard Butler were happy to know that he will play the role of Jake in the upcoming movie ''Geostorm.''
This movie will be released on Jan. 13, 2017 and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Dean Devlin will direct this science fiction action film and it has an ensemble star cast. Along with Butler, Katheryn Winnick will share the screen space as Olivia, Alexandra Lara (Ute Fassbinder), Abbie Cornish (Agent Sarah), Jim Sturgess (Max), Andy García (President Palma), Ed Harris (Secretary Dekkom) and a few other stars.
The critics feel that Butler will suit the role of a satellite designer very well. This is a directorial debut for Devlin who co-wrote ''Independence Day'' is 1996 and ''Godzilla'' in 1998. In other news, fans are also keen to know if Butler will tie the knot with his long-time girl-friend Morgan Brown anytime soon. His career is going great guns and the fans want to see their favorite star settled in his personal life too.
The shooting of this movie ''Geostorm'' is going on in full swing and Cornish was busy shooting as secret service agent wearing the traditional suit and white shirt, confirmed Mail Online. The plot of this movie revolves around the role of Butler who heads into space and tries to stop the man-made storms. The principal photography started on Oct. 20, 2014 and the NASA location of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA was chosen as one of the shooting spots for this movie which involves satellites and storms.
The original release date of this movie was supposed to be on Mar. 25, 2016, however, since ''Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'' was released on that weekend, Warner Bros. decided to push back the release date of this movie. This news was confirmed by The Wrap.
Butler's recently released movie ''London Has Fallen'' did a good business on the box-office and collected $195.7 million. His other movie ''Gods of Egypt'' too collected $145.1 million in the box office. He is one of the most sought after actors of 2016 and another movie of his which will open in cinemas soon is ''The Headhunter's Calling.''
