MaskTouch will be providing iMac touchscreen interface to allow users to use an iMac like an iPad. Apple has previously said that they will not make a Macbook or iMac with a touchscreen interface.

MaskTouch can add touchscreen functionality not just for a 21.5-inch iMac, but also with the 27-inch iMac. MaskTouch runs smoother and faster than the previous models and can support ten touch-points. Its frames are attached to the bezel of an iMac that connects through a short USB cable and is held in place via magnets.

The MaskTouch device uses infrared to detect fingers on the iMac screen. However, the iMac screen will not be covered by MaskTouch as it is just a frame and not a sheet of glass that would interfere with screen quality, i4U reported.

MaskTouch supports all gestures of the Apple Magic Trackpad and can be used by merely connecting the device without installation. Aogek, the device manufacturer, announced that the device will be released in August, though the price has not been set yet. The previous iMac Touch devices, which held similar features was sold at $199.

iMac Touch was originally made possible in 2012 when a Chinese company Aogek. Back then, the company released the weirdly named Zorro Macsk, which gave a touchscreen functionality to a 21.5-inch iMac. Recently, the company redesigned and renamed the iMac touchscreen input device to MaskTouch.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is secretly working on a new surface computer that would take on Apple's all-in-one iMac, Windows Central reported. It is reportedly safe to assume that this AIO would have a touchscreen and a stylus pen given the Microsoft Surface line's legacy in tablets and laptops.

A Microsoft patent filing shows a design for a desktop PC, which supports the idea that a Microsoft Surface AIO is coming. Another indicator that a Microsoft AIO is for real was when a software developer Shubhan Chemburkar visited Microsoft's Building 88 hardware labs over the weekend and noticed that the company is teasing new devices for 2016 and 2017.

Microsoft Surface AIO is believed to be a slim and stylish Windows 10 desktop computer designed for the living room. Watch the iMac Vs. Microsoft Surface video below:
