Microsoft Edge has Amazon extension and 1080p Netflix playing capacity as its latest treats prior to the final anniversary update code. The integrated shopping experience came out following the Microsoft Edge browser's open web support releases through advanced web apps.

The Microsoft Edge build 14390 was released for Mobile and PC on July 15, Friday for bug fixes. The update, aside from the bug fixes, has special Amazon extension. According to the company, the Amazon Assistant will aid users in coming up with better online shopping decisions through special access to Wish List, Product Comparison, Deal of the Day, and favorite Amazon destinations shortcuts.

The Netflix 1080p content viewing via Microsoft's Edge browser was also announced on July 13, Wednesday. Microsoft claimed that the Edge browser is the only one to provide Netflix content 1080p resolution, unlike Opera, Chrome and Firefox which only capped 720p, PC World reported.

The Microsoft Edge browser anniversary update, aside from Amazon and Netflix features, will also be implementing web app standards such as Fetch, Service Worker, Cache API, and Push API. Build support for the W3C Web App Manifest into Windows Store will also be supported, ARC reported.

Jacob Rossi, a Microsoft Edge engineer, previously announced that Microsoft is expanding on its plan to make advanced web apps in Windows. Hosted Web Apps were born in Windows 10, on the other hand. HWAs can run isolated from the browser just like packaged apps, but are live loaded from the server, freeing updates from lengthy store submission processes.

The Windows customization feature was introduced in IE9 and was Microsoft's first endeavor towards stickier web experiences. Later iterations of the feature gave the platform a hint that it can run like an app and provide details on how to integrate it into the home screen and Start Menu.

Rossi also explained that they see the W3C Web App Manifest as the future of web apps on Windows. Building support in the Windows Store for W3C Web App Manifest makes it possible to list PWA in the Store and run it outside of a browser tab.

Windows 10 anniversary update's full code will be released on Aug. 2. The earliest incarnation of web apps on Windows was pinned sites, where sites could be pinned to the taskbar adorned with custom icons, badges, and menus. Watch the Windows 10 anniversary update for Microsoft Edge.
