Sutter had clarified earlier that the prequel will include the storyline based on the Vietnam war, and it will be a 10 or 12 episode ''limited series'' and not a full-fledged season. Apart from the prequel, Sutter is also working on an entirely different spin-off based on the Mayans, a California-based motorcycle gang. Fans will remember that this group often came face to face with the original SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle club, Redwood original) bikers between season 1 and 7. According to NME, the prequel is set in 1960s; however, the spin-off will have the contemporary storyline.

While talking to Men's Journal, the original protagonist Charlie Hunnam AKA Jackson ''Jax'' Teller talked at length about the prequel. Hunnam clarified that the prequel will see Brad Pitt as his father John Teller.

He also threw light on his relationship with Sutter. ''I'm not sure when it would happen though, he's got another TV show he's working on. I don't know if he needs me as a lead actor on that too'' Hunnam clarified.

While talking about Sutter, Hunnam mentioned, ''I love that guy, but it was hard for us to work together sometimes because we're both crazy fucks. Kurt and I never blasted each other in the face, but I'll say it got close. There has been security rushing onto set and pulling us apart before."

Currently, Sutter is in discussion with the writers and finalising the plot of both the projects. Even though the fans know that the chances of Hunnam returning in either of them is very bleak, the online forums still talk about how much they will miss Hunnam in the show once it is aired.
