The People's Republic of China will continue playing its constructive role in the promotion of the peace process in Myanmar, according to a Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday.

The country has always given respect to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Myanmar, stated by Hua Chunying, a spokesperson at a routine press briefing.

Hua said that government of China would never allow an organization or an individual to use the Chinese territory to sabotage the China-Myanmar relationship and the stability of the border areas.

Hua mentioned the remarks when she was asked to confirm if China is linked to the Kokang ethnic army.

"We hope the conflicting parties in Myanmar to show restraint, avoid escalation of the situation, and try not to affect the stability of the China-Myanmar border and the security of the Chinese side," stated Hua.

The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) has set in motion attacks on different government outposts in the Kokang region in Myanmar's northeastern Shan state on Feb. 9.

The Chinese government has labelled MNDAA as Kokang rebellious groups. The areas of Laukkai and Kongyan were the main areas affected with the fighting, as the areas served as a battleground.

During the week-long clash, the forces of the government carried out five air strikes. There were claims that 47 of their forces died in battle, while 73 others were injured in the arduous and heavy fighting with the MNDAA over the past few days.
