When the price tags of current smartphone lineup are given huge discounts, the assumption only leads to an impending release date of the sequel. In Apple's case, it is likely that launch of the iPhone 7 this 2016 will happen real soon as the well-received iPhone SE is now with an asking price that is $200 cheaper.

The 50 percent price cut is courtesy of US Cellular, which according to Phone Arena is now selling the still fresh iPhone SE as a prepaid smartphone package. The 16GB smaller iPhone kit, which by the way packs nearly of same specifications found on the iPhone 6S - like A9 processing chip and 2GB RAM, is ready to take home at half the price of its original $399 sticker.

The US Cellular price cut for the SE appears to be permanent, meaning there is no deadline specified for the promo, but Phone Arena made clear on its report that the normally hard-to-find device has the same state on the network provider. Stocks are limited to buyers planning to get the phone better hustle up.

And owning the device should not disappoint. If majority of reviews are to be believed. As mentioned, the iPhone SE is but a small clone of the iPhone 6S as Apple decided to mirror key specs and features that were unboxed with the 6S in September 2016.

The glaring difference is the screen size but as Apple has accurately predicted, a good amount of smartphone users still prefer the 4-inch profile mostly for its optimal support of one-hand navigation.

With $199 as the mere cash damage in getting the iPhone SE, jumping seems more tempting than ever but it should be noted that the SE price going down also hints of a new iPhone touching down in no time.

BGR said speculations are rife that the next iPhone will come in three variants - the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus, which likely will have a slightly high-specced twin that will be called iPhone Pro. The latter will be distinct for packing a more powerful camera, which leaked specs and image suggest will have a dual-lens set up.

On release date, likely to happen between August and September 2016, the next iPhone is said showcase nearly the same look, build and design of its predecessor but with minor specification like the ditching of the 3.5mm audio port. A10 processing chip and iOS 10 will power the iPhone 7 series, which could include an iPhone SE2.
