The premier told the people that the government is taking steps to improve aid policies on education as well as present guidelines to speed up sector growth in the central and western region.

Li pointed out that the region has the potential to become the new engines of national economic growth. Hence, the local government should find a new model for innovation by upgrading their infrastructure development and the supporting sectors. He also encouraged migrant workers to return and visit their homes.

During his visit, Li made the rounds of small villages, including a local market, to personally meet and talk to the local people. He also visited an economic zone, an ethnic minority town and the capital city of Guizhou Province in southwest China.

Since the visit was made ahead of the Chinese New Year on Feb. 19, Li extended his greetings to people he met during the tour. He met with students, workers and ethnic people in Liping County in the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture.

Premier Li is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
