The easier transit of diplomatic and service passport holders in China and Ghana can now be expected as both nations recently signed a mutual visa exemption agreement.

The agreement was signed by Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Sun Baohong, and Ghana's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affair and Regional Integration, Kwesi Quartey.

With this signing, individuals that own these passports can freely go into, from and through the territories of both countries without visa requirements.

Ambassador Sun said that the agreement is a vital, primary step in facilitating the exchange of people between China and Ghana.

"We are very happy this morning that this goal has been realized," Ambassador Sun said.

"Both China and Ghana are committed to providing more efficient and expedient facilities to the peoples of our two countries," she also pointed out.

More than fortifying friendly relations and ties between the two countries, the agreement is seen as a platform by which these governments can intensify sound political exchanges.

Quartey said that the agreement will help deepen and strengthen the fruitful partnership between the two nations.

"We are looking forward Your Excellency to mutual cooperation, greater consolidation of our relations, further political and economic exchanges and general well-being of our people," the deputy minister added.

The agreement will take effect after all domestic procedures for both China and Ghana are completed.

The two countries first established diplomatic relations back in the 1960s. The relationship has enjoyed strong partnership that brought beneficial programs for the residents of both countries.
