The long wait is over, as the much awaited "Vikings" Season 4B trailer is here. Fans have been waiting for any update on the mid-season return of the History series, and their patience was rewarded with a first-look unveiled at San Diego Comic Con 2016.

The "Vikings" Season 4B preview debuted during the show's Comic Con panel on July 22. The "Vikings" panel was attended by Travis Fimmel, Katheryn Winnick, Clive Standen, Alyssa Sutherland, Gustaf Skarsgard and Alexander Ludwig, Deadline reported.

The trailer shows Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) return to Kattegat as man hated by his children. His long absence has developed in his son anger at him and a desire to take over his throne. While Bjorn knows that his father's presence brings "calamity, chaos, tragedy and death," he is up to the challenge and ready to fight.

A big battle is to be expected in "Vikings" Deason 4B and it will be the bloodiest and most vicious the show has probably ever delivered.

"Vikings" creator Michael Hirst, who was also present at Comic Con, cleared out rumors about Ragnar retiring from the show by confirming that there's still more to come from the character.

"Change is in the air. Ragnar has reappeared after disappearing following his humiliating defeat," Hirst told The Hollywood Reporter. "He's come back because he has something very specific that he wants to do, but as he says he also wants to see how his sons have turned out.

Ragnar's reappearance in "Vikings" Season 4B sets in motion a lot of what happened in Scandinavian history at that time. Among other things, he will settle some unfinished business with King Ecbert in Wessex.

Rollo re-emerges after betraying his family and defeating his brother in Paris. Lagertha's LGBTQ storyline will also be explored in "Vikings" Season 4B.

Hirst addressed the much talked-about Ivar the Boneless, who is presumed to be Ragnar's new favorite and potential successor. He teased that Ivar will become one of the show's biggest stars and that he will be admired by the audience due to his strength, despite his disability.

Meanwhile, it was announced that Jonathan Rhys Meyers will be a regular character in "Vikings" Season 5. He will have an introductory appearance in Season 4B.

The "Vikings" Season 4B release date has not yet been confirmed as of this writing.
