"Chicago Fire" season 5 recently cast Scott Elrod for a recurring role.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Elrod was last seen as a recurring character in the hit ABC series "Grey's Anatomy" in season 12.

At that time, Scott's character Will Thorpe became involved with lead character Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) very briefly.

During one of their intimate scenes together, Meredith panicked at the thought that she's already moving on from her late husband Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).

Meredith screamed at the top of her lungs while she was in the bedroom with Will. The latter also freaked out and sought the help of Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone).

Meredith's sisters and housemates told Will that Meredith is not ready for anything serious just yet so the former decided to give the latter more time.

As of late, it is still unclear whether or not Elrod's character Will will still be featured in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13. After all, Meredith already hooked up with Nathan (Martin Henderson) which means that she will have plenty of love-related storylines to explore.

Meanwhile, Elrod will play the role of Travis Brenner in "Chicago Fire." The character is described as a very handsome man who has millions of followers on social media.

Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Travis will cross paths during a fire call, and the former will be encouraged to join the latter's inner circle.

While speaking with the publication, executive producer Derek Haas said, "This guy always has a party going on, always has a new adventure to rope in a new friend. He feels like Severide is a real guy, not the usual hanger-on, entourage type of guy that he's used to hanging out with, so he's attracted to Severide in that way. He's going to cause some mischief over the first three episodes."

"Chicago Fire" season 5 will premiere on NBC on Oct. 11 at 10 p.m. ET.
