As the whole world immerses itself in the wonders of "Pokémon Go," Nintendo is preparing for the release of two new games in the franchise, namely "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon." Here's everything we know so far about the highly-anticipated release.
Over 25 new characters will be introduced
Reports reveal that more than 25 new characters will join the roster of Pokémon in "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon." One of these new characters is Minior and Gumshoos. Minior is a floating rock that has the ability to shed its outer shell. Gumshoos, on the other hand, appears with a hairdo similar to that of Donald Trump.
Players are also getting two new Grass type Pokémon: Formantis and its evolved counterpart Lurantis, which comes with a new move called Solar Blade. A new ground type was also unveiled, named Mudbray.
Other Pokémon confirmed to join the lineup are Magaerna, Mudsdale, Bewear, Bounsweet, Comfey, Mimikyu and Bewear.
The newly-incorporated Alola Forms, which are found in the new region of Alola, also give birth to a new breed of Pokémon. Although not entirely new creatures, they come with a new form and type. One of the Alola Forms is Exeggutor. From its previous plump look, the coconut tree-like creature now has a neck the length of that of a giraffe. According to Game Spot, its type also changed from Grass/Psychic to Grass/Dragon.
Other Alola Forms revealed are Ninetales (Ice/Fairy), Sandslash (Ice/Steel), Vulpix (Ice) and Sandshrew (Ice/Steel).
New Hyper Training Mode
Nintendo pushes the boundaries of "Pokemon X and Y's" Super Training to create a new system called Hyper Training. This mode is presumed to be located in the new Alola region. In Hyper Training, players can exchange Bottle Caps to increase a Pokémon's IVs. However, this can only be availed of if the Pokémon has reached Level 100.
Friendly Competitions
Polygon reported that the Global Link system has been upgraded to include Friendly Competitions. Through this feature, Pokémon trainers online can set up their own matches and agree on their own terms. They can play against other Pokémon trainers online or players in nearby areas.
The host can select which player can join the online matches. It can be a private match between trainers who know each other or a free-for-all match that anyone can join.
"Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon" will be release on the Nintendo 3DS this Nov. 18.
