Amanda Nunes has yet to be named an official opponent for her newly won UFC women’s bantamweight title. Alexis Davis is tossing her name into the mix and with good reason.

Davis has been out of the mixed martial arts scene since 2015 to have her first child. There is no official word for now on who Davis could face in her return bout but she wouldn’t mind getting a shot at Nunes’ title.

Like most fighters in their division, it is not surprising to see Davis toss her name into the mix. She defeated Nunes at UFC 135 in 2011 and believes the champion may be interested in redeeming herself for that loss, Fox Sports reported.

Davis’ last match was a submission victory at UFC 186 against Sarah Kauffman, MMA Junkie reported. It was redemption on her part following two losses to the 30-year-old Canadian in 2007 and 2012. With that in mind, Davis believes that Nunes would want nothing better than to redeem her loss as well back in 2012.

Davis issued a challenge to Nunes, letting her know that she was ready for whoever the UFC matches up with her. She reasoned how fighters would want to redeem themselves from previous losses though it remains to be seen if that would be enough to book a match.

Seeing how the UFC women's bantamweight title has been changing hands each time it is on the line, Davis has considered Nunes wanting to face someone else where she has better chances. If true, she is ready to work her way to earn a title shot.

The UFC will eventually decide on who Davis will face next, including a possible card against the UFC women’s bantamweight champion. As far as she is concerned, Davis is ready for anyone after a one-year layoff.

Davis is leaving the logistics of her return to her management team and the UFC. Miesha Tate could be first in line to get a title shot though a Ronda Rousey return could push Davis back further. With that in mind, Davis will likely have to work her way up the ranks and face other top contenders.
