Several gamers are now speculating the most viable release date for the PS4 Neo could happen in August during Gamescom. The topic was raised after some fans believed an October release is already in place for the upcoming console.
Gamers took the interview of GameStop CEO Paul Raines with CNBC as a confirmation of PS4 Neo's launch date. In the said conversation, Raines mentioned about the launching of several consoles happening later this year, which was interpreted by fans that the PS4 Neo will be released on October 2016. However, this was negated by the company saying Raines did not give the exact detail about the console's unveiling, but rather answered in reference to the reporter's question, Games Presso reported.
It can be recalled that when the executive was asked on what to anticipate during the holiday, he did mention the Nintendo NX while including other hardware upgrades like Xbox One S and PS4 Neo. His answer became the reference of many PlayStation fans for the Neo's release, the report added.
Meanwhile, in a discussion thread posted on Reddit, several users shared their predictions on some important details about PS4 Neo. Bonesawisready5 who started the topic speculated Sony will unveil the said console in August during the Gamescom. He also added the entertainment company may also conduct it during TGS or on any random day they prefer.
Aside from its release date, the thread also discussed possible pricing for the Neo and its predecessor, the original PS4. Other users were suggesting Sony should opt a cut price for PS4 by pegging it at $199 while putting Neo at the $399 mark.
Most responders agreed with the new upgrade being priced at $399, while saying $500 would be too much. The reason for the cut price is to compensate the potential loss in sales for the PS4 once its upgrade releases. However, others negated the suggestion and believes the original console will stay at its current price of $349.
As of this writing, majority of details is still under the wrap. It is expected Sony will be revealing other information in the months to come.
